Dear All,
Lisa McNeill sent me this, on which we are encouraged to act.
As a veteran of three ODP Legs I have experience that
success depended on the experienced crew.
Regards,
Sheila Peacock.

Hi Sheila
I think that emails/letters from the UK IODP community (and others) to Rodey Batiza,
NSF Program Manager at IODP would be appreciated and might help, as suggested in
Juli's email to GeoPRISMS.
His contact details are at:
http://www.nsf.gov/staff/staff_bio.jsp?lan=rbatiza&org=NSF
So please feel free to forward this suggestion to the mailing list.

Dear All,
The attached is bad news for the ocean drilling community, including
geophysicist members of it and the rest of us who benefit from its
findings. Having the JOIDES Resolution tied up for six months of
the year will make it difficult to retain experienced crew and
technical support, which will detract from future scientific
achievement just as the reduced hours at sea will. Any US members of this
list might consider taking political action as suggested. If anyone on the
list can suggest action that non-US members might take, please let us
know.
