Reader/Senior Lecturer in Design Thinking for Enterprise Computing
School of Informatics, Centre for Creativity in Professional Practice
City University London
Details and contact information is at:
http://www.city.ac.uk/academicexcellence/school-of-informatics
Closing date for applications is 27 May 2011
The post
City University London has an established world-class reputation for
inter-disciplinary research and teaching around computing
technologies, and is seeking to appoint one new academic – a Reader or
Senior Lecturer in Design Thinking for Enterprising Computing. Design
thinking has emerged as a new innovation process that explores the
human desirability, technical feasibility and economic viability of
computer-based solutions. By its nature design thinking research and
teaching is inter-disciplinary, drawing of theories, technologies and
techniques from computing technologies, user-centred design, business,
decision-making, psychology and the social sciences. We are seeking to
apply these theories, technologies and techniques to enterprise
computing, with a specific focus on researching and developing new
research and teaching for IT consulting. The new post has been
established to create synergies around design thinking between
selected research groups in the School of Informatics and with other
Schools relevant to design thinking in the University. These synergies
are expected to generate world-class research outcomes.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the
teaching of design thinking processes and practices within the
School’s Masters programmes. In particular design thinking is
considered to be pivotal to the School’s new Advanced Masters in IT
Consulting, and to the current Masters for Innovation, Creativity and
Leadership and creativity modules offered to Informatics students.
The successful candidate will join the School of Informatics, and is
also expected to participate in the Centre for Creativity in
Professional Practice.
