This is a bit of a marmite situation. You either love what PeterK does,
and are grateful for it, or you are not.

Rather than carry out an extensive and inconclusive discussion on this
topic, might I suggest that this list follows the approach of the
Records-Management-UK list, poll your members using the free
survey tool provided by JISC mail and ascertain once and
for all if the majority of members find Peter's posts informative
and useful, or if they do not.

For your information, here is the results of the Records-Management-UK
list survey that were published this week (see below)

Quite clearly Peter's contribution is highly valued by the RM
community, however there may be a different view held by archives-nra.

Please note that there is an extensive discussion on this topic and
guidance on how to filter out/autofile content from the list.

Regards,

Paul

Subject: RAIN - Final Results

Dear All,

The final results of the RAIN survey show that 68.5% of the survey population (a

14% sample of the list members) voted in favour of retaining the RAIN posts.

I would like to thank Peter for his patience with this list. I cannot think of
anyone else during the lifetime of this list who has come under so much peer
group scrutiny, and I am personally pleased with the outcome of the survey, both

for Peter and for the upholding the principles of the list itself.

I think there has now been sufficient debate on the topic. The small minority
who argued against the posts need to adjust their e-mail settings accordingly,
as the majority  of this list wish Peter to continue with his postings, and
long may he do so.

I hope that we can now get back to our day jobs!

If you are unhappy with the outcome of this survey and wish to unsubscribe
from this list, please send an email to [log in to unmask] with the words

Best Wishes,

Paul

Subject: List spam from PeterK

What can be done about the list spam from this PeterK character?
Why cannot he behave is a good public manner as Michele Losses does
with her news.
I sent a direct mail asking that he tone it down to one per day but
just got insults about archivists not being able to set their mail
client settings, this attitude towards the "customer" beggars belief.
