Grade 7: £29,099 - £35,788 p.a. with a discretionary range to £39,107 p.a.

The Nuffield Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (NDOG) and the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM) are seeking an Epidemiologist / biostatistician to perform data analysis and provide epidemiological input to studies performed within NDOG, in particular the Newborn Cross Sectional Study (NCSS) of the INTERGROWTH-21st project (see https://www.medscinet.net/intergrowth/ ).
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assist the senior epidemiologist (Professor Cesar Victora) and senior medical statistician (Professor Doug Altman) in the analysis of the NCSS component of the INTERGROWTH-21st project. You will contribute to the preparation of analysis plans, undertake independent statistical and epidemiological analyses, and provide technical support in the area of multiple regression analysis and similar methods, related to the NCSS data set. In addition, you will provide expert advice and explanations of epidemiological issues associated with these and other projects, and contribute to publications for peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific meetings. This is a full time, fixed term post for a period of three years.
You will have a postgraduate qualification in epidemiology, biostatistics or some other related degree including an important bio-statistical component at PhD or DPhil level. A Masters degree in biostatistics with strong experience in analysis of large data sets is also acceptable. Knowledge and/or experience of design and analysis, interpretation and reporting of epidemiological studies are required. Familiarity with statistical packages such as STATA or SAS is essential.
