Council tax is Scotland is capped by the Scottish Government, so raising
the levels of Council Tax is not an option. I assume that the situation
is similar in the rest of the UK

Does anybody know of any council actually asked their residents if they
would be willing to pay more council tax in order to maintain services?
For all the pain of losing services like Libraries, what would the actual
costs be per household in some areas to maintain service?
In Cambridge the Police service costs £3.26 per person per week, how much
would it cost to provide library services (or any other service) to last
years levels? Of course we don?t want to have to pay more but if the
alternative is losing things like Libraries is it doable?
It?s not politically expedient to suggest higher taxes and of course many
people would be harder hit but has anyone heard of any council at least
looking into this? At least it would give people a choice.
