Project B - Lived Experience: the Transmission of Attitudes Towards Difference
This project aims to unpack people’s lived experience of social differences (ethnicity, gender, religion/belief, disability, age and sexual orientation) and to explore the processes through which attitudes (positive or negative) towards ‘others’ are transmitted or interrupted. It involves multi-method qualitative research (including life history interviews and audio-diaries) in Warsaw, Poland. You will work in partnership with a Post-doctoral Research Assistant to conduct parallel research for project B in Leeds, UK, and will also have the opportunity to contribute to the supervision of a Ph.D. student who will be attached to this project. You will also be expected to liaise with the other project teams who are part of the Living with Difference Research Programme and to participate in the wider Programme’s activities under the supervision of the Programme’s PI and administrator. You will spend the first three months of the award based in the UK working at the University of Leeds, for the following 12 months you will be based in Warsaw, Poland, to conduct fieldwork, and for the final nine months of the post you will be required to return to the UK to work at the University of Leeds. There will also be a requirement for occasional evening and/or weekend working and possibly attendance at residential national and international conferences and dissemination events.
You will be expected to have a PhD or equivalent, postdoctoral research experience in a relevant academic field (e.g. Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, or Urban Studies) You will have experience of using qualitative research methods and analysing qualitative data and have a track record of publications or evidence of contributions to co-authored publications. The nature of the role means that you must be able to speak fluent Polish and English.
