If you don't mind working at home, it is quite easy to install a VM on
basically any computer that is not exactly antique. VirtualBox is free
on any operating system, and there are ready-to-use images available
for download (see http://neuro.debian.net/vm.html for an example). So,
if it is important, I'd probably install it on my home PC and run it
there. Even if it takes ages in comparison to a dedicated cluster, it
will probably finish earlier (given enough RAM is available) than
fixing an FSL install will take you. Just my 0.02USD :-)
