In view of the exciting events in Northern Africa and the Middle East and the impending disaster in Europe, I have been developing some political neologisms to describe the processes leading to these dramatic changes in the global landscape. I offer them to the list in the hopes that other members may improve these or suggest their own...
Austerity – A process by which the people who destroy an economy force the people whose livelihoods were destroyed to pay for the destruction.
Arab Revolution – The point at which intervening in oil-producing countries to ‘stabilize the Middle East’ becomes intervening to stop ‘the spread of Islamic fundamentalism.’
Food Security – Control of food production in the global south by corporations of the global north so that commodity speculation in the global north can induce food scarcity in the global south.
Financial Crisis – A critical set of events in the financial services sector, following which creative accountancy fraud becomes a function of the state.
Financial Reform – The process by which the financial services sector gets what it pays for.
Global Warming – A set of random, unconnected climatological events produced by the special relationship between God and Koch Industries.
Regime Change – Where the banking cartel in charge of your country swaps your national debt with that of another banking cartel.
Public Private Partnership – Where the state agrees to make the unpayable debt of the private sector a public responsibility and the private sector agrees to make the unpayable debt of the public a public responsibility.
