No problem Bob. During training sessions I often find that people are
surprised by one or two features or tips and tricks they weren't aware of.
I'm not sure if you're on the Xerte technical list but I know quite a lot of
people on this list aren't because it's much busier and too technical so I
thought it would be summarising and sharing a few recent posts:
Deborah Delin asked "Is it possible to have a graphic, instead of a word, as
the target in the Matching Pairs/Timeline exercise? I am using Johnathan's
wizards.
Simon Barne shared some of his examples:
These are a few experimental ones I've made for English language learners:
Time: http://www.intouea.com/xerte/play.php?template_id=29
Pronunciation: http://www.intouea.com/xerte/play.php?template_id=32
Relatives: http://www.intouea.com/xerte/play.php?template_id=28
Objects: http://intouea.com/elearning/objects/
and received positive feedback
I shared an example of how Deborah could achieve what she asked:
With a bit of perseverance you can cheat this a bit and achieve what I think
you want by using html img tags. I've covered this during training sessions
and have an example here:
http://www.learningapps.co.uk/moodle/xertetoolkits/play.php?template_id=8
Originally this was just an example using the categories interaction but I
just tested if the same principle works with the matching pairs and it does.
I moved that to be the first page and would add two comments:
1. The hit area doesn't cover the whole box so you need to add a relevant
instruction to drag the labels to the top of the box.
2. To fit the images to the boxes you may need to add some <br> tags.
3. Below is an example of what I added to one of the Target fields:

Thanks for that tip, Ron and thanks for your question, Sue! It's useful to
know that links to additional information or practice activities in a flash
format can be neatly included in the same template. Previously, I'd have
presented additional info explicitly in subsequent flashpaper page types.
Accessing the hyperlinks for files stored in the media and quota folder is a
useful feature I hadn't appreciated before. Thanks!
regards
Bob
