Applications are invited for a NeuroImaging Research Associate to join the Huntington's Disease (HD) research group, UCL Institute of Neurology, currently involved in a range of multi-national multi-site longitudinal imaging projects of HD under the overall direction of Professor Sarah Tabrizi. In particular, the post holder will be involved in the setup of image analysis for a new EU-funded project investigating a novel therapeutic with potential disease-modifying properties. This is an exciting opportunity to advance volumetric and diffusion image-analysis methodology within a rapidly growing multidisciplinary group conducting research into HD.
Key Requirements
Applicants are required to hold, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in Image Analysis, Medical Physics or other relevant discipline. Computational and image analysis skills are essential, as is knowledge and experience of diffusion tensor imaging.
Overview of the Post:
• This post is based in the Huntington’s Disease (HD) Research Group, a rapidly growing multi-disciplinary research team based in the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease, UCL Institute of Neurology and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
• The postholder will be involved in the volumetric and diffusion analysis of 3-Tesla brain images for two multi-national multi-site longitudinal imaging projects of HD, under the overall direction of Professor Sarah Tabrizi. In particular, the postholder will be involved in a new EU-funded project, investigating the feasibility of imaging and other clinical measures in monitoring the disease-modifying effects of a novel compound for future therapeutic trials.
• UCL Institute of Neurology has a strong network of software developers. The postholder will be expected to spend approximately one day per week developing new imaging methodologies at the UCL Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC), under the supervision of Dr Sebastien Ourselin. These methodologies may have wider application across the neurodegenerative diseases.
