UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL LANCASHIRE
International PhD Scholarships in Solar Physics
School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences
Applications are invited for two full-time scholarships available in solar
physics in the Jeremiah Horrocks Institute at the University of Central
Lancashire, UK. The scholarships are tenable for up to 3 years for a PhD
(via MPhil route) [subject to satisfactory progress] and are open to
international applicants only. UK/EU applicants are not eligible to apply.
The scholarships will provide 15000 towards the cost of the International
tuition fee over 3 years.
The two project titles are:
- Investigating the rotation of sunspots with the Solar Dynamics
Observatory (supervisor: Daniel Brown)
- Using Coronal Dimming to study Coronal Mass Ejection Initiation
(supervisor: Danielle Bewsher)
Applicants should have, or expect to receive a qualification equivalent to
a high class UK honours degree.
