I would like to announce that the Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS) has now formed a new Scholarly Interest Group in Media Industries.
At the recent annual conference, the Board of Directors approved the proposal for the formation of the Media Industries Scholarly Interest Group (MISIG). It is the aim of the MISIG to stimulate and advance research and/or teaching relating to all aspects of media industries and institutions.
Over the coming year the group will be building its web presence but it is possible to join the group through the Society’s main website.
Instructions:
1. Go to www.cmstudies.org.
2. On the left-hand menu, click on the link for ‘Caucuses/Groups/Org’, take the link for ‘Scholarly Interest Groups’ and from there to ‘Media Industries’.
3. The page includes the MISIG ‘Mission Statement’, ‘Goals and Objectives’ and ‘Bylaws’.
4. At the bottom of this page is a link for ‘Join this Group’.
This is an open invitation to members of SCMS with interest in media industries research and teaching to join the MISIG.
Best wishes
Paul McDonald
