The John Rylands Library’s First Impressions project, funded by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) aims to highlight the significance of those early years of printing — and to make the Library’s remarkable collections of early printed books more accessible through public events, workshops and new online resources. The amazing website for the project has just gone live here;

First Impressions reveals how printing spread through Europe. The site explores the transition from manuscript to print, explaining the technical aspects of Gutenberg’s revolution. It also discusses the wider impact that the invention of printing had on society then, and reflect upon what it means for us today. You can even create your own printers mark!
