Rod,
For a fresh install the c-ares 1.3 package is needed:
wget http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/EGEE/gLite/R3.2/glite-GENERIC/sl5/x86_64/RPMS.externals/c-ares-1.3.0-4.sl5.x86_64.rpm -O c-ares-1.3.0-4.sl5.x86_64.rpm
rpm -Uvh c-ares-1.3.0-4.sl5.x86_64.rpm
Then use --exclude=c-ares for the install and update if GLITE-CREAM
Cheers,
Alain.

Subject: [LCG-ROLLOUT] c-ares dependency of cream
Hi,
On a clean install of slc5 I do
# yum install glite-CREAM
to get
glite-security-gss-2.0.0-6.sl5.x86_64 from glite-CREAM_updates has
depsolving problems
--> Missing Dependency: libcares.so.0()(64bit) is needed by package
glite-security-gss-2.0.0-6.sl5.x86_64 (glite-CREAM_updates)
I have followed some threads on update problems, but saw none on fresh
install.
c-ares is not installed, but if I install it to get
---> Package c-ares.i386 0:1.6.0-5.el5 set to be updated
---> Package c-ares.x86_64 0:1.6.0-5.el5 set to be updated
then the glite-CREAM install still fails.
I thought this might have been sorted out by now, but apparently not -
how do I install a cream CE?
Cheers,
Rod.
