Hi All,
At the moment our three Supermicro boxes from Viglen with Adaptec
controllers are all running the RAL tests with no obvious errors. They
do show occasional blocked task warnings in dmesg and /var/log/messages,
but the filesystems are all still writeable. Presumably these blockages
are just an effect of the extreme load on the servers, or are they
something to be concerned about?
Before I put these machines into production, I would like to make sure I
have not made any gross configuration errors, and it occurs to me that I
have not done anything special about aligning XFS structures with the
stripe size of the RAID. From what I can gather this can be done
automatically by XFS, but it relies on the RAID controller supporting
the relevant ioctl query.
Does anyone know if this does work automatically with the Adaptec 5805
controller? Do you do anything special to get the alignment right in
your systems?
Cheers,
Ben
