Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in German Politics and Society. The post will be located in the University of Birmingham’s Institute for German Studies, in the Department of Political Science and International Studies (POLSIS), to begin on 1 September 2011 or as close to that date as possible.
The successful candidate will combine teaching and administrative duties in the wider Department with academic research within a lively interdisciplinary environment. S/he will also assist the Director of the Institute for German Studies both in further developing the cross-disciplinary research activity of the IGS Birmingham and in supporting research into Europe in POLSIS and the wider University.
Candidates for the post will have a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant area alongside ongoing original research, a promising publication record, an awareness of current research funding issues, and excellent spoken and written German. We invite applications from candidates with expertise in any relevant areas, but would particularly welcome research interests in comparative politics, the environment, and political economy.
