Dear All
We have been using Adlib archival software for some years and whilst there is a lot we like about it, we have been very frustrated by issues around support and communication and we are not entirely satisfied by the company’s response to our comments. I would be very pleased to hear ‘off list’ from Adlib users regarding your own experience and whether our concerns are shared.
In particular I would like to know if anyone shares our frustration about the Adlib user group, which seems to be inactive. Adlib’s view is that the user group is independent and therefore they have no role in helping the group to function. I have argued, unsuccessfully, that without some support from them it is difficult to know who the membership is and how we might contact colleagues elsewhere. I am wondering whether a Jiscmail discussion list might be a suitable alternative and whether it would help us to communicate with each other on issues such as best practice, good ideas, software niggles and anything else that isn’t just a rant. Adlib staff could join in of course. If there is some interest, I would be willing to explore this further though this would have to wait until May/June at the earliest because of other commitments.
