Applications are invited for five early career researchers to join a team
of researchers working in a large and exciting birth cohort study, the Avon
Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC). The posts will support
a number of key research programmes taking place over the next three years.
The key tasks for each post will be similar, but each has a slightly
different focus in terms of cohort members. Four of these posts will work
on research programmes that focus on ongoing research on: (i) the young
study participants who are currently aged around 18, (ii) their mothers,
(iii) fathers and (iv) on their offspring and siblings. The fifth research
programme supports ongoing work around collecting information on ALSPAC
participants through linkage to existing routine data such as health,
education, economic and criminal records.
The roles provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience of
epidemiological research, including data handling and management, working
with people from different specialties and working on specific research
programmes culminating in peer-reviewed publications and conference
presentations.
The posts are available to applicants with some research experience, those
in their first years of postdoctoral experience or to very competent recent
graduates from a relevant master's degree course.
