Do you look after books and documents? Do you want to learn more about how they can be damaged and how you can prevent this? Do you want to practice making a wrapper to protect a book? This training day is aimed at librarians and archivists.
The day starts with an overview of the different types of damage, how these can be caused and how damage can be prevented. Subsequent sessions focus on decision making for treating damaged books and making protective wrappers.
Previous attendees commented that they gained "Practical information about damage and the realisation that I should constantly monitor the condition of items on the shelves"; and learnt "Practical skills in tape tying and producing Melinex covers."
The day is led by accredited conservator, Caroline Bendix whose clients include the National Trust and English Heritage.
Cost: £100 + VAT including lunch and refreshments (£75 + VAT for members of Research Libraries UK)
