Members might be interested to know about a free e-book. This is John Law's modernised reading text of Gavin Douglas's translation of the AEneid. The Older Scots of Douglas is rendered into Modern Scots spelling and the text is equipped with copious glosses (in footnotes). Students will find this a helpful route into the difficult medieval language of Douglas. With the language bar lowered in this way, Douglas's translation can again be appreciated as the rattling good read that it is.
The ebook can be dowloaded free from the website of the Scots Language Centre, at http://www.scotslanguage.com/articles/view/2216.
