UC&R Group (Northern) are pleased to announce that we will be sponsoring a place for full residential attendance at Umbrella 2011 for a personal member of CILIP who lives or works in the UC&R (Northern) region* or a UNN student on a library course, who will be a first time attendee to an Umbrella event.
Umbrella 2011 takes place on 12-13th July at University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield and offers you a unique experience to meet the UK library community, discuss issues affecting your future, and improve your knowledge. To see the conference programme, go to: http://www.cilip.org.uk/umbrella2011
Six key themes have been identified for this year’s event:
• Skills and professionalism
• Promotion and advocacy
• Technologies and access
• Libraries in the Big Society
• Digital inclusion and social change
• Tools and techniques - workshops
If you would like to be considered for a sponsored place at Umbrella 2011, please write a short statement, approximately 300 words, describing how you would benefit from attendance at this year’s event. The successful applicant will have to write a short report on the conference for the UC&R Group (Northern) Committee. The report will be used for publicity purposes.

Please note: The sponsorship covers an ‘Early Arrival Full Residential Delegate’ place and includes return 2nd class rail fare to the venue. All other costs are to be met by the successful candidate.
