Apologies to those not in Scotland, but the event (below) might be of
interest to some...

We are writing to invite you to attend the first event of the Scottish
Geography Feminist Research Network. We intend the network to provide a
specific space for women geographers to inhabit and cultivate our feminist
identities and foster feminist solidarity, intellectual engagement, and
support. Participation in the network is open to any woman geographer
working or studying in Scotland who engages with feminist ideas and
scholarship. Please distribute this invitation accordingly to any
colleagues or students who you think might be interested in participating.
The first meeting will include a discussion amongst the group about the
network itself, including what we'd like it to do, how often we'd like to
meet, and other considerations raised by participants. This will be
followed by a discussion of Gerry Pratt's (2010) short piece in Gender,
Place, and Culture on 'Collaboration as feminist strategy,' after which we
will have lunch as a group, providing attendees an opportunity to socialize,
catch up, and get to know one another.
The Network event will be followed later on that afternoon by a talk in the
School of Geographical and Earth Sciences at Glasgow by Doreen Massey and
Patrick Keiller on the film they recently worked on titled 'Robinson in
Ruins' which you are also invited to attend. The film itself will not be
screened at this event but if you would like to attend the talk please get
in touch with us and we will try to get you a copy of the film in advance.
Doreen and Patrick's seminar is scheduled to begin at 1 pm.
Please RSVP to [log in to unmask] by May 15 so that we know how
many to expect, and please do circulate this invitation widely.
Sincerely,
Kate Driscoll Derickson, Hester Parr, Jo Sharp, and Kendra Strauss
