The ICR, one of the world’s leading cancer research centres, is
looking for motivated statisticians to join the Clinical Trials and
Statistics Unit, ICR-CTSU, (1x Medical Statistician, job reference B450)
and the Molecular Epidemiology team (1x
Biostatistician/Bioinformatician, reference B449).
Candidates for these posts should have a background or demonstrable
interest in the analysis of large and complex datasets plus excellent
communication and organisational skills. Both posts require candidates
with strong attention to detail, who are able to both work well in teams
and work effectively independently. B450 will work on the statistical
development, oversight and statistical analysis of a number of
multi-centre phase II/III (and phase II/III pilot) randomised clinical
trials within ICR-CTSU’s breast and urology portfolios. B449 will
conduct statistical/bioinformatics research within the scope of the
Molecular Epidemiology team’s ongoing projects aimed at identifying
and characterizing biomarkers of cancer risk. The work will involve
identifying and developing suitable tools and analytical techniques to
tackle computational and statistical challenges, preparing analytical
databases and performing statistical analyses.
These are full time posts (35 hours per week) with a starting salary in
the range of £26,996 to £37,476, which benefit from a contributory
pension scheme and generous leave allowance. The positions are available
immediately but candidates due to graduate from an MSc/PhD in 2011 will
also be considered.
