British Library census Counts Exhibition

ALISS (Association of Librarians and Information professionals in the Social Sciences). Are pleased to announce a special opportunity to visit the census Counts exhibition which is currently taking place in the folio gallery at the British library and is showcasing key exhibits including
The first edition of Thomas Malthus's Essay on the principle of population
* 19th-century maps and charts showing population distribution and other features
* Punch cartoons, and others, satirising the census and our attitudes to completing the forms
* A Chartist survey of work, politics and religion
* A church sermon, a poem, a play, a rap and a song
The tour, led by curator, Ian Cooke will give an insight into the process of creating the exhibition and publicising it as well as a closer look at its contents.
The visit will last approximately 90 minutes.
There is no charge for ALISS Members.
