BCN-NiC advanced fMRI course 2011:
" From voxels to networks - an introduction to advanced fMRI methods "
Following a successful "advanced fMRI course" that was held in 2009,
another such course will be organized on ten successive Tuesdays in the
spring of this year, from April 12th until June 14th, 2011, at the BCN
Neuroimaging Center (FMW-3111, Antonius Deusinglaan 2, Groningen, The
Netherlands).
The course is primarily intended for researchers that employ
'conventional' regression approaches to detect brain activation with
fMRI (e.g. SPM), but who would like to learn more about the application
of other related and upcoming techniques, for instance those related to
brain connectivity. Some prior knowledge is recommended, but anybody who
is interested in current developments in functional MRI and wishes to
extend their background is invited to join.
The following topics will be covered:
12 Apr. Data collection:
Contrast mechanisms & Advanced preprocessing
19 Apr. Linear regression:
Advanced regression models & Modeling hemodynamics
26 Apr. Statistics:
Statistical thresholding & Group-level statistics
03 May. Classification:
Pattern recognition & Clustering
10 May. Component analysis:
Principal components & Independent components
17 May. Functional connectivity:
Correlations & Mediated connections
24 May. Dynamic causal modeling:
State models & Causal inference
31 May. Granger causality:
Autoregressive models & Causal inference
07 Jun. Structural MRI:
Structural connectivity & Structural imaging
14 Jun. Networks:
Graph analysis & Conclusion
The daily program will typically comprise two plenary sessions in the
morning that focus on the listed topics (09:00-10:00 & 10:30-11:30), as
well as a practical session in the afternoon that offers hands-on
experience (14:00 onwards). Details will be announced to all registrants
prior to each day. If you wish to participate in this course, please
register at http://audio-fmri.langers.nl/course.php to receive further
information and materials, and reserve the above dates in your calendar now!
Best regards,
