Big missed opportunity there.
Two weeks later and many people in the UK would welcome this as an excuse to
get the hell out of the country while Olympic mania reigns.
But talking last year to some of the people planning the event, it should be
a fun gathering even without that incentive.

Hi all - Please see the below send on behalf of Gail.

Subject: ESOF2012
Many of you on the list will have already participated in a previous ESOF
(Euroscience Open Forum). It takes place every other year. For those of you
who haven't but who do know AAAS, it's sort of similar to that, except it
also has a larger 'science in the city' programme, a career programme and a
business programme, as well as the general scientific programme.
ESOF2012 will take place in Dublin from the 11th to the 15th of July. The
event will bring together over 5,000 scientists, business leaders,
government officials, policy-makers and international scientific media
representatives to discuss the best of European science and to address all
of the current major global scientific challenges, including Energy, Climate
Change, Food and Health.
The call for scientific session proposals is now open. Go to
www.esof2012.org to find the call with instructions on how to make a
submission. The deadline is the 30th of June 2011.
Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to
contact the ESOF Hub on [log in to unmask]
Or please feel free to contact me [log in to unmask] - off list probably best, if
you have specific enquiries.
