Postdoc Position in Cold and Ultracold Molecules
Applications are invited for a postdoc position in the group of Dr David Carty (Department of Physics, Durham University, UK) in the field of cold and ultracold molecules experiments, specifically on a project entitled Cooling molecules to microKelvin temperatures: Deceleration, trapping and sympathetic cooling for quantum simulation.
The position is for 2 years initially, but may be extended to 4 years or more, and is available immediately, or as soon as the applicant wishes to start. The funding places no restrictions on nationality, though it will be subject to the normal UK immigration rules.
The position is associated with a large new EPSRC programme grant entitled MMQA: MicroKelvin Molecules in a Quantum Array, joint with other experimental groups, and a theory group, at Durham and an experimental group at Imperial College London. For brief details on the programme motivations please see the news item at http://www.dur.ac.uk/chemistry/news/?itemno=11430 or see http://www.dur.ac.uk/resources/chemistry/MMQAPDRAPGRoutline.pdf for a more detailed description of the project itself.
Applications must be made via the Durham University web site at http://tinyurl.com/687v4gc. The web page also includes the essential and desired specifications of an appropriate candidate. The closing date for applications is the 11th April, 2011.
A PhD position on this same project will be advertised soon, and there are postdoc and PhD positions available in the groups of the other programme collaborators. Please contact Prof. Jeremy Hutson FRS, Dr Eckart Wrede Dr Simon Cornish or me for further details.
Best wishes
David Carty
