LECTURESHIP IN TRANSLATION STUDIES (full-time, open-ended)
University of Edinburgh
Applications are invited for a Lectureship in Translation Studies from those
working in any area of Translation Studies, but particularly in literary
translation or translation and technology. The successful candidate will
have a demonstrable record of research excellence. He/she will be expected
to be able to teach across the postgraduate programmes in Translation
Studies (MSc/Dip in Translation Studies and/or the new MSc/Dip in Literary
Translation as Creative Practice), as well as some undergraduate level
courses within the School; to contribute to the administration within the
School; to contribute creatively to the School's Postgraduate recruitment
strategy; and to engage actively at an international level in research in
his/her field.
The Translation Studies Graduate Programme (TSGP) at the University of
Edinburgh is situated within the School of Literatures, Languages and
Cultures, which consists of the divisions of European Languages and
Cultures, English Literature, Scottish and Celtic Studies, East Asian
Studies, Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies, and the Graduate School. TSGP
offers a broad range of languages (Arabic, Chinese, Danish, French, German,
Greek, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian,

You will have outstanding research potential, a clear research agenda,
relevant teaching experience, and native or near-native competence in
English and in at least one other language. You will be expected to
contribute to all levels of the postgraduate programmes in Translation
Studies, including PhD supervision, and to contribute innovatively to the
development of taught postgraduate courses in translation studies. You will
also be expected to undertake some undergraduate teaching in an appropriate
subject area within the School. You will have completed, or be near
completion of, a PhD in a relevant area.
The post is available from 1 September 2011 or as soon as possible
thereafter.
Salary Scale: £36,862 - £44,016
