ESRC Feminism and Futurity Capstone Event
Resistance/Resilience/Reworking: Reflections on Feminism and Futurity
School of Geographical Sciences, University of Bristol
Thursday 30 June – Friday 1 June 2011
This two-day event concludes the ESRC Feminism and Futurity seminar series
by considering the diversity of responses to contemporary social,
techno-scientific, and political economic transformation. We will consider
the question: what capacities for resistance, resilience and reworking lie
in the reconfiguration of long-standing categories of feminist analyses?
Speakers include: Angela McRobbie (Goldsmiths), Linda McDowell (Oxford),
Cindi Katz (CUNY), Davina Cooper (Kent), and Elisabeth Prugl (The Graduate
Institute, Geneva)
Attendance at the seminar is free but prior registration is required to
help with catering arrangements. To register, please contact Gemma Simpson
([log in to unmask]) no later than THURSDAY, 23 JUNE 2011.
We are pleased to offer funds to support the participation of
postgraduates, postdoctoral fellows, early career researchers, and unwaged
participants at the seminar. In order to apply for a grant to cover travel
costs, please send your name, academic position if applicable, contact
details, and a statement of your research interests and why you wish to
attend the seminar (50 words maximum) to Gemma Simpson at the above email
address by MONDAY 13 JUNE 2011.
Details of the ESRC Feminism and Futurity seminar series, including the
final seminar programme and audio recordings of previous seminars, can be
