With apologies for sending this a second time, a gentle reminder that this year's University of Edinburgh Hispanic Studies Play (El Eterno Femenino by the Mexican playwright Rosario Castellanos), will be performed on the 16th, 17th and 18th March 2011 in Adam House Theatre, Chambers Street, Edinburgh (7.30pm start).
The play was regarded as a daring masterpiece of feminist literature when it was published in 1975, shortly after the author's death. Thirty years later, this funny, farcical exploration of gender roles in Mexican society still holds its power to amuse, amaze, and challenge its audience. The setting is surreal, the premise preposterous: a woman, Lupita, goes to a salon to have her hair done for her wedding but ends up under the spell of a dream-inducing hair dryer. Her dreams portray her in the various stages of her life.
Tickets are £5 and will be available on the door. Please come along and enjoy!
