About Us:
The Fraunhofer Portugal Research Center for Assistive Information and
Communication Solutions (Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to the promotion and development of applied
research in Portugal, being its activities focused in the areas of
Ambient Assisted Living and ICT4D.
Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS works with companies interested in
outsourcing/co-developing their applied research projects, providing
them specialized competences centered on the improvement of end-user
experience and usability of applications.
In order to expand its project competences, Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS
is now receiving applications from candidates interested in the
particular fields addressed by the center, who are capable of
providing excellent qualifications and skills within the requirements
described below.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
Fraunhofer AICOS aims to democratize the access to technology. In this
context, the institute conducts research to create technology that
meets older adults' characteristics and needs. At this moment, we seek
applicants to work on ongoing National and European projects that
focus on this audience.
The successful applicant will conduct applied research on user
interfaces for a number of recent and novel technologies like smart
phones. This would include working with stakeholders to define
requirements, generate and develop design concepts, design low to
high-fidelity prototypes, execute empirical studies and evaluations,
and report on the research findings.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should hold a university master (or equivalent)
degree in the area of Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors,
Design, Computer Science, or other relevant and related discipline.
She/he should have previously worked with User-Centered Design or
Participatory Design methodologies and be familiar with quantitative
and qualitative research.
The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills and
experience working with older adults or at least a strong will to work
together with this audience.
The candidate should be able to proficiently use the English language.

* Demonstrable ability to organize, manage and conduct empirical
field studies and usability studies and evaluations (Required)
* Good organizational and time management skills (Required)
