Hello Neil , the seat depth dimension and need to reduce seat to foot
plate would indicate client is short in legs as 13 ins is considered
child size for seat depth. Does this also effect seat to ground height.
You could simply get a 20 x16 ins chair and reduce canvas depth /fit a 2
ins back cushion or a combination of both. However , this would possibly
not seat the client in the best position to self propel [not sure of
activity level ]. You could source 90 degree paediatric hangers for an
Action or fit reverse hanger brackets to resolve foot plate height. The
other option is to contact RJ Mobility in Halifax to see if they are
prepared to build a special , but there might be some issues with the
folding mechanism at 20 ins width and keeping a low seat to ground
height. Worth a try . Hope this helps .Give me a ring if you want to
chat through . Regards Tony Lewis . SRE Dorset Wheelchair service tel no

Subject: 18"x13" Self propelling Wheelchair?
Hi,
I currently have a patient whose wheelchair is now too small. We have
worked hard to get him the correct size and this worked for a couple of
years. We would be grateful to hear your views, experiences or the
relevant contacts to help us source an appropriate chair. Currently he
sits in a modified Action 3 from Invacare and requires a seat size of
20"x13", with self propelling wheels and his weight is mid-80s kg. It is
an interesting issue to get resolved and would be grateful for your
thoughts.
Other things we considered:
DB1 - footplates don't come close enough to seat canvas
Access - unsure if they're still doing specials
