Medical Statisticians
HIV and Infections Group
MRC Clinical Trials Unit, London
New opportunities for experienced medical statisticians
Salary in range £30,124 - £48,016 p.a. inc.
London
The MRC Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) designs and conducts clinical trials and epidemiological research in several disease areas. The HIV Group within the Unit coordinates a wide portfolio of studies in HIV infection in low, middle and high-income countries and has an established international reputation. The Group currently employs 18 statisticians who collaborate closely with clinicians, epidemiologists, trial managers, and database programmers, within a stimulating work environment. Our philosophy is for statisticians to be closely involved in all stages of the study process, from the development of initial concepts to writing manuscripts and presenting papers.
We have two vacancies for medical statisticians to work in two large international networks; one to be primarily responsible for the statistical aspects of a programme of trials in paediatric HIV, including line management responsibilities, and the other in a large collaboration of observational cohorts. Both of these provide exciting opportunities to make important contributions to HIV research and opportunities also exist for applied methodological research. Candidates should have a post-graduate qualification in medical statistics or a closely related subject and substantial relevant experience, preferably in infectious diseases. Candidates should have strong analytical skills; possess initiative and an ability to work independently, and to be able to communicate effectively as part of a team.
Salary is dependent on previous experience and includes Location Allowance and Central London Supplement. Benefits include 30 days annual leave per year, a contributory pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.
