the Young Statisticians Section announces the next pre-ordinary meeting:
16th March 2010

If you work in the related area, we would encourage you to present a poster. In that case, in addition to the registration, please get in touch with Simon White [log in to unmask]
For those new to our PrOMs:
The aim of Pre-Ordinary meetings is to make the research papers read at the Royal Statistical Society more accessible to students, young statisticians and those not familiar with the area discussed in the read paper.
The meetings are held just before the Ordinary meetings and consist of two 30 min talks, one providing introduction to the area covered by the read paper and discussion of current problems, and the other giving a non-technical presentation of the read paper. Additional contributions are welcome in the form of posters following the talks.
Preliminary schedule:
3:00-3:30pm TBA
3:30-4:00pm Johan Lindström Introduction to the read paper
4-5pm - Posters and coffee
To precede the discussion paper by Finn Lindgren, Havard Rue and Johan Lindstrom "An explicit link between Gaussian fields and Gaussian Markov random fields: The SPDE approach".

With best wishes,
Oliver Ratmann
