Such trials are extremely rare because the necessity of treating patients when they present means that matching would (usually) require a crystal ball or a freezer you could store the patients in until you had collected as many as you needed to start the trial, at which point you would defrost them in the microwave. (Despite this practical difficulty, matched pair designs remain very popular with philsophers of science.) However there must be a few matched pair designs that have been run occasionally and I would be grateful if anybody who knows of an example where the data are also available would contact me. I will then summarise for the list.
