Hi
I have also had conversations with door manufacturers, joiners and contractors who seem to be have suddenly become aware of this 'new' standard which turns out in reality to be BS 8300 or Part M. At least the message seems to be slowly (very slowly) filtering through........

Hi, as far as Im aware the most recent advice is as given in BS8300:2009, see 6.5.2, but here is an extract:
"For most disabled people to have independent access through single
or double swing doors, the opening force, when measured at the
leading edge of the door, should be not more than 30 N from 0° (the
door in the closed position) to 30° open, and not more than 22.5 N
from 30° to 60° of the opening cycle".
We are just in the process of testing all of our main thoroughfare doors on campus at the University of Essex in line with this guidance,
Best wishes,
Rowena

Subject: Testing door closers
Hi everyone.
One of my colleagues has been told by a joiner that there is now a new standard for testing the opening weight of doors / door closers.
I've done a quick internet trawl and can't see anything about it. This is the first anyone on my team has heard of it.
Does anyone have any further information or can anyone direct me to a website?
Thanks.
