Dear All
In a recent deployment meeting we reviewed site progress on the glexec (and associated ARGUS/SCAS....) front. Several site admins mentioned that there was a need for a tarball install package. This was asked about at the GDB last week and Jeff Templon has come back with the status (see below).
At the dteam & sites meeting tomorrow I would like to review which sites have an issue in this area. Pierre Girard (IN2P3) has offered to help one of our sites make progress - does any site want to volunteer? That site could then help the others. How many "others" are we talking about? Please let me know if your site needs a relocatable distribution for glexec. I also need to know of any other issues preventing any site from installing glexec on the June 2011 timescale.
Note that progress can still be made with the central server - such as ARGUS - while waiting on instructions for the glexec install.
Many thanks,
Jeremy

The developers had answered Pierre quite some time ago with instructions on how to compile glexec with an alternate path; this is an acceptable alternative. According to the developers, they received no feedback on these instructions nor on the explanation why the RPM could not be relocatable; after several months of no feedback they closed the related GGUS ticket.
