PAWS will be the standard package in most HEIs for social scientists
(scientists tend to use Minitab), so that is the most convenient, I'm
sure. My preferred package (which is cross-platform) is gretl (since
I can run it natively in Linux and because it produces Gini
coefficients and Lorenz curves - it's basically a time series and
regression package, but performs all those other stat functions too) -
and it's free (as in gratuit, but not libre).
