one of the reasons i blog is to explore the other intellectual interests i
have within the discipline of geography. not only does it take herculean
efforts to break out of the classification that gets assigned once a phd is
completed, it is next to impossible to find time to engage with the many
other ways one wants to practice geography. i don't think it is unfair to
claim that mainstream academia tends to encourage the *one-dimensional man*
version.
