Andy
You can't hide it.
We puzzled over its purpose for a while too :-)
It is designed to help users who may be using screen magnification software (or just a very large font size in their browser)
so that the tab names are still readable.

Subject: Visually Expand Tab Area Button
Hi,
I'm a little embarrassed about this question, as I'm sure I've missed something.
On our pilot 9.1 system there is a little "up/down arrow" icon at the top left, just encroaching on the Blackboard banner bar, on the same level as the tabs.
When you hover your mouse over it, the pop up says "Visually Expand Tab Area"
When I click it, I can drag the tab area bigger, which appears to serve no purpose what-so-ever, other than giving me a blank area of screen.
Could somebody enlighten me as to what this button is meant to achieve, or even if there is a way of hiding it.
Many Thanks
Andy Raistrick
