Dear All
Thank you to everyone who replied to my post about AMS.
The most popular proprietary systems for managing archives and museum objects were CALM and Adlib. Other archivists reported using MIMSY XG, System Simulation's ArchiveIndex+ and MuseumIndex+, ModesXML and Minisis M2A.
The non-proprietary systems suggested were ICA Atom which was particularly praised for its multi-functionality, and the Archivists' Toolkit.
If you are considering acquiring a new AMS read the report 'Archival Management Software' by Lisa Spiro, <http://www.clir.org/pubs/reports/spiro2009.html> which is really useful in defining criteria for selecting software and comparing the functionality of different systems.
Best wishes
Karen
