I hope I am not guilty of posting something outside of the remit of the
maillist, but I was wondering if anyone on the list knew of any research that
has been published on changes in the number of single discipline departments
within UK Higher Education? My feeling is that these have reduced in recent
years and typically been replaced by multi-discipline schools or institutes,
however, I'm not away of any systematic studies of this. If anyone is aware
of anything relevant or issues such as the impacts of this on teaching I
would be really grateful.
Many thanks
