Dawn,
We have this and it is a space saver (and therefore a money saver), a deduplication tool and a means whereby my department can search right across the files for FOI/DPA/e-discovery - all good stuff. But you need to get deletion rules in from day 1 or it will just grow until the cost benefit disappears, you are in danger of non-compliance with DPA and the cost of retrofitting deletion rules spirals. We didn't do this but are going to have to, and it's much harder after the event.

TfL has recently adopted an ‘information security classification scheme’ to help protect its information assets. If you work for TfL or one of its subsidiaries and want to find out how this affects you, see the new Quick Guide or visit Source for more information.

Subject: Electronic File Archiving
Has anyone had any experience with file archiving software? IT are thinking of purchasing software to archive the files on our network into offline storage. Along the way duplicate files will be deleted and other clever processes IT would like to implement are likely to be included.
As this is all new to me I would welcome peoples views on pros and cons of this software.
Regards,
Dawn
