Astrophysics: supernovae, cosmology, galaxies
The Multidisciplinary Centre for Astrophysics (CENTRA,
http://centra.ist.utl.pt) at Instituto Superior Tecnico in Lisbon
invites applications for a three year research position in
Astrophysics/Cosmology under the Welcome II program
(http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/contratacaodoutorados/welcome2).
CENTRA wishes to strengthen its activities in the field of Type Ia
Supernovae and preference will be given to candidates with experience in
the fields of supernovae, cosmology with supernovae, and galaxy
formation and evolution. Experience in observations and data reduction,
including integral field spectroscopy, will be a benefit.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in astronomy, astrophysics or physics.
Eligible candidates must be nationals of a EU Member State or FP7
Associated Country and have carried out research in non-EU countries for
the last 3 years (researchers that have spent the last 9 months in
Europe after the 3 year period can also apply). Gross salary will be
approximately between 41000EUR and 46200EUR per year depending on
experience, plus social security benefits. An initial travel/relocation
allowance of 1600EUR will be provided as well as a minimum of 5000EUR
per year for research expenses. The tentative date for the appointment
is in the fall of 2011.
