Hi Sarah,
thank you for you quick reply - no, I´m working on an some kind of "incident/case reporting system", a tool for systematical learning from reflective practice.
At this point, I´m involved with a working gruop in the LINNAEUS EURO PC project. This research group is looking at critical incident reporting systems for primary care (mostly GPs). We are currently trying to find out about existing systems.
Regarding CIRS, I feel that looking at critical incidents only may not address the complex reality of pregnancy and childbirth, nor will it facilitate learning from good practice, nor will it consider client´s views. Also, most existing reporting systems focus on secondary care settings, which neglects the setting where most midwifery care takes place: primary care.
At the same time we (a group of midwives from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and northern Italy) have started to construct a web-based reporting system for German-speaking countries. You might know some of them, i.e. Ans Luyben.
Looking forward to hear back from you, best wishes,
Christiane
