Professor George Rousseau has been a central figure in the study of the
historical interaction between medicine and culture since the 1960s,
revolutionizing our understandings of the role of medical ideas of the
body on literature, music and philosophy. As part of the
Wellcome-funded, 'The Stimulated Body and the Arts Conference', to be
held at Hatfield College, Durham on the 17-18 February 2011, he will be
giving a public lecture on music and the nervous system that will draw
on both his distinguished academic career and his experience as a
concert pianist.
