De Montfort University's 'Playing for Laughs: On Comedy in Performance' presents Reading Little Britain
Little Britain was an instant hit when it first appeared on TV in 2003. Written and performed by Matt Lucas and David Walliams, the show introduced audiences to an assortment of contemporary characters from Dafydd “I’m the only gay in the village” through to Thai mail-order bride Ting Tong Macadangdang. This timely seminar builds on the recently published book edited by Sharon Lockyer. The seminar will explore the appeal of the programme and dissect some of the controversies caused by the programme. Participants include: Sharon Lockyer (Brunel University), Margaret Montgomerie (De Montfort University), Geoff Rowe (Director, Leicester Comedy Festival), David Morgan (Comedian), plus other special guests.
