Electronic Services and Systems Librarian - Permanent
Africa, Oceania and the Americas
R3A
This post will be based in the Centre for Anthropology at the British
Museum (the largest of the Museum's Libraries) but will have a wider
responsibility for systems applications in all Libraries within the
Museum.
Its primary responsibility will be to ensure the day-to-day
functionality and smooth running of the library management system
(currently Sirsi Dynix Symphony) and the management of the Museum's
collection of electronic resources. A major part of this role will be
working with IS to trouble -shoot technical problems in all the
Libraries across the Museum, and training Library staff in the use of
the Library system.
You will be educated to a Degree level or equivalent, with a
professional library qualification.
Experience of participation in implementing and supporting a library
management system is essential. Familiarity with the operation and
management of electronic information and digital learning resources
would be beneficial as well as experience of working in a similar
library role for a large scale museum / gallery or similar arts
institution. You will have the ability to explain technical information
in a straight-forward manner - teaching others the full use of the
SirsiDynix Symphony system and to effectively contribute to, and to
communicate, the Museum's information strategy.
