Further to Tricia's comment:
Person-identifiable information can be safely sent via NHSmail, but
anything sent via an ordinary .nhs.uk should be encrypted using WinZip.

Just a word of caution re emailing stuff to yourself. This is fine if
it's your coursework, etc but please ensure that no confidential info is
saved this way. The internet is not secure.

Subject: Encrypted Memory Sticks
Hi All
I'm wondering if anyone can provide advice on how they have dealt with
the use of encrypted memory sticks in the library.
Our Trust IT department has said that from 1st April only encrypted
memory sticks will be able to be used on PC's within the Trust. All
Trust staff will need to order the memory sticks through the IT
department which will then get charged back to the department of the
member of staff. This is fine, however we have an IT suite which is used
by medical and nursing students and PCT employees and other NHS staff
who will not neccessarily have an encrypted memory stick or be able to
order one.
Has anyone else been in this situation and how did you and your IT
departments deal with it?
Many thanks
Louise
