This conference explores the philosophical questions raised by and in dance. Relatively under-theorised as it has been in the history of aesthetics, dance presents fertile ground for philosophical enquiry. The conference will enable dialogue about dance between different philosophical traditions, and will examine a range of themes including:
Dance and/as philosophy
Minds, brains and dancing bodies
Dance, space and time
Bodies, Persons and dance action
Dance ontology and identity
Meaning, dance and art
Keynote speakers: Graham McFee and Nöel Carroll
Conference supported by the British Society of Aesthetics, the Society for Dance Research, Royal Institute of Philosophy and American Airlines
